College Ministry

Grace Harbor Church believes that college students are to be members of the body just like any other church member is a part of the body (1 Corinthians 12). Rather than compartmentalizing, we encourage college students to be an integral part of the body through biblical church membership. College students encourage our members who are not college students with their seal and fervor for the Lord while college students are blessed by the persevering faith of those who have gone through college and other stages of life while following Christ. This means we see things like college students helping with children’s ministry, young married couples spending time with them, and groups of students eating in the homes of families within the church.

We do also see the benefit, however, of college students getting together with other students. Living life together as Christians with others who are going through the same challenges and experiencing life the same way can be encouraging and challenging in a way that also builds us up in Christ. Therefore, we invite and encourage all of our college students to participate in what we call Christian Student Fellowship.

Dan DaCunha, College Minister

A lifelong Rhode Islander, Dan grew up in a Christian home and heard the gospel from a young age, but it wasn’t until shortly after college that the Lord saved him and gave him new life in Christ. He was baptized into membership at Grace Harbor Church in Providence, R.I., and soon met Jess, a beautiful young lady who was then the student president of our church’s ministry at Johnson & Wales University.

They were married soon after as the Lord used a mutual love for both His Word and His people to draw them together. As they served Grace Harbor with their gifts, prayed for God’s guidance, and sought wisdom and confirmation from the church body, Dan’s desire to serve in full-time Christian ministry became clear. Dan works as a collegiate minister with the North American Mission Board, leading Christian Student Fellowship at JWU as well as coordinating efforts to reach all students in the Providence area.

Molly Peele, Associate College Minister

Molly grew up in North Carolina and graduated from Covenant College.  She first visited Providence in 2016 on a short-term mission trip.  Being in the city and having conversations with the people of Providence, she began to see the need for Jesus to be proclaimed here.  Molly desired to join the work the Lord was doing through Grace Harbor Church and moved from NC to Providence in 2017.

Since then, she has been working full-time in collegiate ministry, giving her time to discipleship and evangelism among students.  She enjoys building relationships with students, understanding and applying God’s Word with them, showing hospitality, and experiencing all the joys of simply working and playing alongside students.
