Summer Sunday Prayer
Martin Luther once said, “Prayer is not overcoming God’s reluctance, but laying hold of His willingness.” Luther is simply reiterating in his own words the promise of Jesus our Savior. Jesus said, “Keep asking, and it will be given to you. Keep searching, and you will find. Keep knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who searches finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. What man among you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you then, who are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” God delights in answering prayer, as He gives good gifts to His children and brings Himself glory. We can be confident that if we ask things according to His will, and persist in asking, God hears us and is happy to answer according to His sovereign wisdom and for our joy (1 John 5:14-15; Luke 18:1-8; John 16:24).
This summer, starting July 5th, we have the privilege to come together in corporate prayer before our main gathering. This will be a time of praise to God, encouragement toward one another, and supplication as we ask God to work mightily in and through the morning service. We hope you will join us for this important time, as we come together to display our unity and dependence upon the Lord.
